Tasting at Morlet Family Vineyards with 2 Princesses

Jodie Morlet and Carla Bowers

Had an amazing tasting at Morlet Family Vineyards with co-proprietor Jodie Morlet, who poured us a world class assortment of wines made by her husband Luc Morlet. Morlet Family Vineyards' limited production, hand crafted collectible wines are highly sought after because of Luc Morlet's world class pedigree and high ratings in the 97+ point range.

Our line up today consisted of:
  • 2010 "Ma Princesse" chardonnay, Russian River
  • 2011 "Coteaux Nobles" pinot noir, Sonoma Coast
  • 2010 "Bouquet Garni" syrah, Bennett Valley
  • 2009 "Passionement" cabernet sauvignon, Oakville
See Luc Morlet talk about Passionement

  • 2009 "Mon Chevalier", cabernet sauvignon,Knights Valley
  • 2009 "Billet Doux", late harvest semillon, Alexander Valley

     Vraiment sensationnel!

Liquid Memory by Jonathan Nossiter

I love reading books about wine. Not the technical kind, but rather those tomes meant to demistify wine and keep it in perspective.                   Besides being a writer with a quirky viewpoint and a global perspective on wine Jonathan Nossiter is also an accomplished film maker and director of one of my favorite wine movies Mondovino which provides a fascinating behind the scenes look at the world of wine (il mondo di vino) and the effects that globalization has had on one of our favorite beverages..

Visit to Spring Mountain Vineyards

Spring Mountain Vineyard
An amazing 812 acre winery that embodies and does honor to the Spring Mountain AVA. Once 3 separate properties La Perla (435 acres), Chevalier (120 acres) and Miravalle (257 acres) it is now Spring Mountain Vineyard. The vineyards occupy 226 acres that are broken up into 135 smaller vineyard blocks.

The property lies behind Beringer Winery in St Helena near the valley floor and rises all the way up to 1600 feet. The amazing history of this winery begins in 1873, and is both fascinating and complex, touching and influencing so much of Napa Valley past and present.

The wineries' website is a great resource of information :
